Night Policeman Hollifield died of injuries he received when he was struck by a vehicle. He had just arrested a drunk driver and placed him in his cruiser when he was struck by a passing vehicle. Policeman Hollifield died of his injuries the next day.
Policeman Hollifield had served with the Prestonsburg Police Department for nine years and was survived by his wife and two children.
