Officer Brent Daniel Long

Officer Long was killed in the line of duty Monday at approximately 3:27 p.m. He was shot inside a residence at 1812 N. 8th St., Terre Haute, while serving an arrest warrant with the U.S. Marshal's Service Fugitive Task Force and ISP. He was evacuated from the scene and transported to Terre Haute Union Hospital, where he was pronounced dead a short time later.

Officer Long was a K-9 handler and was accompanied by his police dog "Shadow", at the time of the shooting. Shadow was also wounded by gunfire and transported to a local veterinarian hospital reportedly in critical condition.
