On the afternoon of November 9, 1938, Patrolman Rose was watching for speeders near the Hahn Hotel on Dixie Highway. As he pulled his motorcycle onto the highway to make a traffic stop, he was struck by another vehicle. He was transported to St. Elizabeth Hospital where he died the following day.
Prior to joining the police department, Patrolman Rose was a member of the Covington Fire Department.
