Deputy Sheriff Roy “Bruce” Sutton Jr.

Jefferson County Sheriff's deputies were responding to a report of a domestic disturbance involving weapons on Dugan Hollow Road. Two deputies arrived on scene at approximately 10:35 p.m.

Deputy Sutton was approaching the scene when he met a vehicle traveling westbound Dugan Hollow Road and exited the roadway while attempting to avoid a collision. His vehicle travelled down a steep embankment and struck a tree causing fatal injuries. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
