Lieutenant August R. Horvath
Left by Christine Watkins on Monday, September 7th, 2009

In July 2004, the City of South Bend dedicated a beautiful bronze sculpture in honor of the city's fallen firefighters. It is located in Seitz Park near the St. Joseph River. Each of the eldest surviving family members of a fallen firefighter was presented with a beautiful framed lithograph of the Firefighter's Memorial sculpture with the name of each fallen firefighter enscribed on the bottom along with the date of his death. My father, who was 86 years old, received the beautiful lithograph. He died in 2008 and I now proudly display the lithograph in my home as a tribute to what my grandfather and his family gave in service to this community. It is an heirloom that will be passed down to future generations.

Thank you, Grampa Horvath!
