About

The Jessamine County Fire District currently serves a population of approximately 50,815.

Founded in 1957, the Jessamine County Fire District is funded by a fire district tax pursuant to and in accordance with Chapter 75 of the Kentucky Revised Statutes. The Fire District is governed by a seven member board of trustees.

Jessamine County, KY is approximately 173 square miles of urban/rural geography. The fire district protects mostly rural farmland while the cities of Nicholasville and Wilmore, KY are protected by their own fire departments respectively within their boundaries. All three agencies work hand and hand with each other through mutual aid agreements in times of major fires or incidents. These mutual aid agreements allow the combination of manpower, equipment, experience and knowledge that is second to none in the fire service.

Jessamine County Fire District consists of 13 units of firefighting apparatus, 4 specialized rescue trailers, 2 rescue apparatus, 3 watercraft, 1 all-terrain vehicle and 2 support vehicles. This fleet of vehicles is housed in seven stations located throughout Jessamine County.
