The Terre Haute Fire Department currently serves a population of approximately 60,785.
The THFD was established around 1855 as a volunteer fire department, in 1894 it became a fully paid department consisting of 50 members of the Terre Haute Fire Department. The THFD now consist of approximately 144 Firefighters men and women, 8 Fire Stations, 6 Engines, 2 Trucks, 1 Tanker, 1 Support/Rescue Unit, 3 full time Paramedic Ambulances and a Hazardous Materials Special Response Team.
